With the new set of cards from the Journey to Un’Goro expansion there is a new mechanic being released – Adapt.
Adapt is a battlecry effect that gives you the choice of 10 different abilities to add to the minion you’ve played.
Take a look at this Druid minion for example – Verdant Longneck.
It’s a 5/4 for 5 mana which isn’t anything special.
But depending on the board state, or your overall game plan you can choose an adapt effect to give you an advantage.
There are 10 different adapt effects. At the time of writing this we know what 6 of them are, which are as follows:
All 10 Adapt Options (Updated)
Living Spores – Deathrattle: Summon two 1/1 Plants.
Massive – Taunt.
Lightning Speed – Windfury.
Liquid Membrane – Can’t be targeted by spells or Hero Powers.
Flaming Claws – +3 Attack.
Crackling Shield – Divine Shield.
TBC – +1/+1 Stats.
TBC – +3 Health.
TBC – Stealth.
TBC – Destroy any minion damaged by this minion.
I think this kind of mechanic is exactly what Hearthstone needs. It gives you more options and decisions during a game to force the outcome.
